Prepare before the truck arrives
Start with the items you use least often, then work toward everyday belongings. Label boxes on the top and one side with the destination room and a short description. Keep a separate bag for keys, medications, important documents, chargers, and anything you need before the rest of the boxes are opened. Decide in advance how that bag will travel.
Speak with building management about elevator reservations, approved loading areas, and access instructions. At a house, identify where loading can take place and keep the route from the door clear. Share both pickup and destination restrictions when requesting the quote; an easy departure does not necessarily mean an easy arrival.
Plan for your own comfort during a Texas moving day. Have drinking water available, keep pets away from active loading paths, and arrange a safe place for children while furniture is being carried. Check the forecast before leaving weather-sensitive items outside. These are preparation suggestions, not statements about company policies.
Measure the spaces where large furniture will go. A rough floor plan with room names helps you give consistent placement instructions. If storage is involved, identify belongings you need immediately and put those on a separate list. Read the packing and unpacking guide and storage preparation guide for more detailed planning.
